The Union Gospel Mission (UGM) was organized in 1926 as a local outreach to the city of Chester, PA by a group of citizens concerned for the physical and spiritual needs of families. Its Goals and Objectives have remained steadfast throughout its over 80 years of service, although in recent years after the closing of its Chester facility in 1995, its outreach has been broadened through this website and its focus directed towards “children and young people  at risk”. The following OBJECT and AIMS are taken directly from its current Constitution:

OBJECT

To declare the love of God in Christ Jesus as put forth in God’s Word, the Bible -  and visibly demonstrated in His life, His death and His bodily resurrection - to a needy and lost world.

AIMS

To continue Union Gospel Mission’s historic mission as a Biblically-rooted and physically caring ministry and to expand its outreach internationally, focusing on children and young people at risk – both spiritually and physically – that they might come to a saving knowledge of the love of God in Christ.

UGM is currently endorsing projects which directly impact the physical needs of malnourished children and young people by helping to distribute a nutritional supplement for children called Taste-n-See, a chocolate flavored whey protein drink deemed vital to combating malnourishment in children especially those with severe immune system disorders like AIDS.

UGM is also sponsoring a web-based project enabling and inviting missionaries, translators and Christian workers throughout the world to download copies of the 68 booklet evangelistic and teaching tool called “The Chronological Presentation of the Gospel (CPG)”.

UGM is also sponsoring a similar web-based follow-up Bible study at FNB  - enabling and inviting new believers and missionaries, translators and Christian workers to download copies of Food for New Believers (FNB)” a publication of Everyday Publications, Inc. of Port Colborne, ON Canada. FNB is provided in English, French, Spanish and Swahili. More Bible Study materials in Swahili are also available here.

UGM also endorses the work of other not-for-profit organizations who seek to directly impact the lives of children and young people, both physically and spiritually. One such organization is Plesion International, which through its Water of Life and Taste-n-See projects seeks to provide disease-free, clean water for drinking and medicinal use and nutritional supplements for children and young people.
